Your first Visit

Thank you so much for trusting us with your endodontic care.  We look forward to meeting you.

Your first appointment may consist of an exam or an exam and treatment, depending on the condition of the tooth or any health complications.  You will be required to fill out paperwork that consists of health history and consent forms so please bring information regarding your medications or allergies.

Not all teeth require root canal treatment.  Clinical testing will be done on the affected tooth to arrive at a diagnosis.  The process begins with a digital x-ray of the tooth.  The tooth is then tested for pain to bite, palpation, percussion, cold and heat sensitivity.  Dr. Chow will evaluate the mobility of the tooth and the surrounding gum tissue.  It is very important not to take any pain relievers prior to your appointment.  Taking pain medication prior to the appointment may conceal symptoms associated with your tooth making a diagnosis difficult.

After a diagnosis is made Dr. Chow will discuss with you the planned treatment for your tooth.  At that time if root canal therapy is advised you will proceed with treatment or be scheduled for a later date.
